Preparing a hardware compatibility review

Tie every mechanism or clip question to a specific mating assembly.

Tie every mechanism or clip question to a specific mating assembly.

Name the assembly

Identify the binder, board or cover the component must attach to. Share a drawing and revision, or a clearly identified reference sample, when available.

Keep the component description separate from the final product identity. A family code or similar appearance is not a compatibility decision.

Describe the interfaces

Mark mounting locations, fixing method, opening access and assembly clearance. Record missing dimensions as open questions.

List the requested material, finish and performance requirements with the evidence needed to review them. Do not infer a grade or resistance claim from a photograph.

Close the review with a version

Evaluate the proposed component with the intended mating assembly and record the method used. Note which requirements passed review and which remain open.

Preserve the component revision, mating drawing and sample reference together. If either side changes, flag the relevant review decisions for reassessment.

A concise handover checklist

  • The intended use and required contents.
  • A named drawing, artwork or reference version.
  • Confirmed inputs, preferences and unresolved questions shown separately.
  • A review owner and a record of requested changes.
  • Requested quantity, destination and timing for separate commercial review.

What this guide does not confirm

This editorial checklist does not establish AWG availability, materials, dimensions, MOQ, price, lead time, capacity or certifications. Product-specific facts and media permissions require their own evidence and approval. Review the final brief with the responsible parties before proceeding.
